Ross Pearson’s next fight has been verbally confirmed, with the Sunderland local set to meet Cub Swanson in the featherweight division.
The bout will be hosted at UFC on FX 4 on June 22 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Pearson has not fought since he beat Junior Assuncao on his 145lb debut in December. The Brit loves to fight regularly and often, but has had to wait patiently for his next UFC rival.
Currently Pearson is helping Team Alliance colleague Dominick Cruz coach on season 15 of The Ultimate Fighter. He confessed the possibility existed that he may have to wait until the end of the show for his next fight, but that will not be the case.
Pearson will fight Swanson, a WEC veteran who has faced both Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes. He was the man Aldo beat via flying knee to earn a WEC featherweight title shot, and he entered the UFC with a 5-3 WEC record.
Since then Swanson lost to Ricardo Lamas on UFC debut before responding with a TKO stoppage of the awkward George Roop.
Victory for Pearson would cement his place in the upper echelons of the 145lb division and would take him a step closer to a title shot.
