MMA is more popular than ever before, which means you may have considered coming to Alliance and checking out training for yourself. If you’re just curious about some of the benefits that come with this sport, though, the following should help.

Builds Confidence

Knowing you can defend yourself is a huge confidence builder. Hopefully, you’ll never need to put your training to the test, but having this type of reassurance with you wherever you go is always going to give your self-esteem a giant boost.

This is true at whatever age. MMA is great for young kids who get bullied. We definitely don’t teach students to take their bully’s to task, but knowing that they’re not sitting ducks will help them feel better about going to school each day.

Likewise, if you work or live in an area where you often worry for your safety, MMA can become a treasured coping mechanism for the risks you find yourself facing.

Gives You a Functional Body

Today, there are more ways than ever before to “get in shape.” Traditional methods like weightlifting and jogging now compete with newer versions like Zumba and CrossFit.

One thing both men and women love about MMA training is that it gives them a body they can truly take pride in. “Getting in shape” is a relative goal anyway. For some, it means having a six-pack. For others, the scale is their final judge.

Our students tend to ditch both after a while (unless they’re training for competition). To them, the real mark of success is whether or not their body allows them to do what they want. They take pride in knowing that they’ve built a functional body that doesn’t hold them back, not one that simply looks nice in a bathing suit.

We won’t lie to you: MMA training is hard. It will push your muscles and cardio to the edge. Yes, there will be some bumps and bruises along the way. More than once, you’ll probably want to quit.

However, one of the things that will keep you coming back for more is the comradery you’ll build with your fellow students. Our gym isn’t like the kind you sign up for and then work out around hundreds of strangers. We truly look at Alliance as a family and it won’t be long before you’re doing the same.

This type of comradery is key to reaching your goals, whether that means losing weight or someday stepping inside the cage. MMA training creates natural bonds that will encourage you to show up again and again to give your all. Even when you feel like quitting, your commitment to your fellow members will most likely bring you back.

Two Words: Stress. Relief.

If you’re like most people, you work a job that’s demanding for one reason or another. It could be the customers. It might be your boss. It might just be the nature of the work you do.

However, if all you’re doing to blow off steam is sitting in front of the television for a few hours each night, that stress is going to eventually eat you up.

Striking and grappling are two excellent ways to get that stress out. You don’t have to hurt anyone to do it either. Grappling is deceptively safe and if you just want to hit something really hard, we have plenty of heavy bags and pads.

The only way to get rid of stress is to literally work it out of your system. With MMA training, you get opportunity after opportunity to do so again and again.

MMA training offers more benefits than your average workout. Most importantly, though, it’s a lot of fun. If you’re interested in learning more about it, please feel free to contact us today.
