UFC officials today announced that verbal agreements are in place for the heavyweights to meet this fall at UFC 135. UFC 135 takes place Sept. 24 at Denver’s Pepsi Center. Manager: UFC 130 Winner Travis Browne “Most Dangerous Heavyweight In Division”

Travis Browne had to wait in line. Despite delivering one of the only highlight-reel clips of UFC 130 – and getting the bonus to show for it – the 29-year-old former K-9 trainer sat patiently on the post-event press conference dais while the cards headliners explained a lackluster showing. Browne (11-0-1 MMA, 2-0-1 UFC) was one of only two that dressed up for the occasion, wearing a button-down shirt and tie. (Brian Stann took it a step further and wore a suit jacket.) But he eventually got his moment, and not just with the knockout. The 6-foot-11 Stefan Struve provided the content for Browne’s highlight reel when he lunged in with a knee and caught a right to the jaw that put him horizontal to the mat before he landed there. Browne pounced and delivered follow-up punishment, but there was no need. An extra $70,000 went Browne’s way for the result, which brought his (disclosed) pay for the event to $86,000. Not only that, he jumped a rung on the heavyweight ladder. […]

UFC 130: Travis Browne Dedicates Stunning KO to Best Friend’s Dad

Fighting a man six-feet-11-inches tall, it took Travis Browne a little while to find his rhythm in the stand-up game at UFC 130 on Saturday night. But find it he did. As Stefan “Skyscraper” Struve looked to launch a knee at him, Browne timed his counter right hand, launching into Struve at just the right [...]

UFC 130 Fight Night Bonuses Net $70,000; Travis Browne Easy KO Winner

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to Las Vegas on Saturday night for UFC 130: Rampage vs. Hamill. The fight card suffered the loss of its original main event a couple weeks ago when Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard both had to withdraw with injuries, but there were several fighters on the card that tried to step up and fill the gap, earning $70,000 postfight award bonuses. Travis Browne left no doubts, scoring the “Knockout of the Night” with a perfectly timed hand. The Hawaiian was having difficulty from the onset with the six-foot-11-inch tall Stefan Struve. Late into the opening round, however, as Struve appeared to be launching a knee, Browne threw a counter right hand that sent “Skyscraper” to the mat, out cold. American Top Team’s Gleison Tibau, fighting Rafaello Oliveira on the Facebook prelims, scored the “Submission of the Night.” He tried throwing down with Oliveira, rocking him several times, but he couldn’t lock down the knockout bonus. Instead, after softening Oliveira up with ground and pound midway through the second round, he finished with a rear naked choke. It was the only submission on Saturday night, making Tibau the easy choice for the bonus. […]

UFC 130: Travis Browne Excited To Be On The Main Card Once Again, Looking To Defeat Stefan Struve In The Stand-Up

UFC heavyweight slugger, Travis Browne has been giving his thoughts on appearing on another main card for the Las Vegas based promotion as they head home for UFC 130 later this month, as well as revealing part of his game plan to deal with a rather tricky opponent on the night. Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Browne said: “Coming off my last fight, it was fairly disappointing, and I’m definitely looking forward to coming out and showing what I have. Being on the main card is always exciting. One, you’re on the main card. And two, when you’re actually in the arena, that’s when everyone actually shows up. Not everyone is there for the prelims and stuff like that, but when you’re on the main card, it’s like everybody is there and all eyes are on you. It’s time to rock and roll, and I’m excited about that.” […]
