I’m sitting by the pool again. We just got home from a sparring session at TapouT training center. Tapout’s facility is great too; they’ve got everything and more.

Otherwise, except for training, eating and sleeping not much is done actually. Our routines are getting set and, as much as we enjoy the training, we’re sometimes questioning what to do in between. In one way Las Vegas isn’t that great because the only thing to do here seems to be gambling ore something money/gambling-related. But in another point of view what do we do a normal training day at home?

Well I know one thing that I do, I get to hang out with my son, whom I miss bad right now but apart from that I wouldn’t say I get that many things done always. So it might just be the magic of Sin city that’s playing with me. Like getting the ”missing the buffet” kind of feeling (like when you’re about to dig in to a great buffet and you don’t want walk out of it with regrets..).

Anyway, we are trying at least. Yesterday we went to one of them big outlets to look around for a bit and we found some good stuff. We also managed to kill a sushi-buffet..

Right now when sitting in the sun, which I’ve missed for about 8 months, I don’t really feel an urge to do something special either. I think I’m going to ride this one out till tonight when it’s time for conditioning.

Wednesday

Today my body’s sorer then in a long time. Mainly thanks to Coach Doug from Alliance (www.alliancegym.com/coach-doug-balzarini-the-ultimate-fighter-update-my-first-week)

Doug puts together smart and grueling trainings with whatever he has and there are no excuses when training with the guys from Alliance. So today’s first training at Drysdale was an extra nice experience. Especially since I got to roll a lot with Robert himself. Robert is a beast. He made me feel worse than my first grappling class ever ☺

His classes are great; he mixes good technique drills with a lot of sparring with different goals. After two hours of that you could say you feel like you worked out and the Thai-food we got ourselves after was more than welcome I tell you.

Another great session at Drysdales, some more at Wand’s and a sparring session at Throwdown is what went down since last I wrote.

I tell you it was packed with talent at all the places. I’m not the type that follow every forum or even watch every UFC so I don’t really recognize people that I probably should here which is funny sometimes when I get to roll or spar with guys that, when I ask them their name, they look at me funny. Well they don’t know me either right?!

Anyway, a difference here to Sweden is that the gyms are in such a good standard. I bet there is a lot of poor basement-gyms over here too but all the gyms I’ve been to so far, both here and in LA or San Diego, are really nice.

My guess is that it’s a combination of different factors why it is like that, one is probably because of the fitness culture and that people pay a lot of money for it here and one is probably because of the popularity of the sport and what that brings with sponsors etc.

A funny thing is that so many of the gyms don’t have showers or maybe just one.. Why is that?

So now it’s Sunday and I’m making it ”pool-Sunday-in-Vegas”, being the one and only restday and all (you can tell I need it by the halo from my white skin..)

Yesterday we visited Robert Drysdale BJJ. We joined a great SW-class. Drysdale is a great instructor and, off course, a super grappler.

We did drills and sparring drills for two hours and the general level was really skilled.

What we also managed to do yesterday was get to one of those giant supermarkets to fill our home with food. That was necessary cause most of the food we’ve found in Vegas so far is really bad. It sucks having a hard time finding something worth calling nutrition to eat when training 3-5 hours every day.

But now we’re getting settled in and soon our routines will be set.

Today first class we will be sparring at Wanderleis gym. That will be nice.

I’m looking forward to the weekend now. Hopefully we’ll get to see more of Vegas than.

Right now me, Alex (Gustafsson), Papy (Abedi) and Andreas (Michael) is waiting for the first training for today. We arrived here late this Sunday and we’re staying here for 3 weeks. Alex and Papy is in camp for their fights at UFC On Fuel TV2 in Stockholm.

I’m getting an early start on my camp or my next fight to, which is probably gonna be in about 8 weeks.

First training today is gonna be at Wanderlei Silva’s Gym with some of the guys from Alliance.

Back from training. The gym was impressive with a full size cage, a open mat section with bags, a strength and conditioning section and even a high altitude room.

The training was wrestling class held by Shanon (grey shirt). I’ve never seen such a accomplished wrestler live before. He’s technique and understanding is brilliant and he was a really great instructor to us. The techniques’ he showed was pretty basic but with a masters touch I’d say.

Right now we’re making a move to get some food when trying not get blown away in the Vegas-winds.. I was expecting it to be nice and shiny outside everyday here in the desert but I guess they’ve got some weathers here to.

First i want to take the opportunity to give some extra cred to my friend and training partner Nico Musoke for his fight this weekend. He won in a impressive manner. Congrats bro!!
