Tachi Palace Fights featherweight champion Eddie Yagin has signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC, confirmed Sherdog.com Saturday evening with sources close to the situation.
No announcement has been made by either the organization or the fighter\’s camp as of yet, and it is currently unknown when Yagin will debut in the Octagon. The fighter has won seven of his last eight fights. Known as “The Filipino Phenom,” Yagin\’s lone loss in the last five years came in 2009, when he fell by technical knockout to Diego Savaiva at Tachi Palace Fights 2.
Following that defeat, the Hawaiian stepped away from the cage for roughly 18 months before making his return in June of this year, finishing Joe Neri with elbow strikes in only 99 seconds.
Most recently, Yagin earned likely the biggest win of his 11-year pro career by stopping former Bellator featherweight king Joe Soto at Tachi Palace Fights 10 on Aug. 5. Yagin earned the vacant TPF featherweight strap by locking up a tight guillotine choke and forcing Soto to submit at just 2:00 of the opening frame.
