Fenton grad, UFC fighter Myles ‘Fury’ Jury to throw out first pitch at Detroit Tigers game

Fenton High School graduate and Ultimate Fighting Championship undercard sensation Myles “Fury” Jury has been to known to land a few kicks. Later this week, his arm will get the ultimate test.

Jury took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce he’ll be tossing out the ceremonial first pitch at Thursday’s Detroit Tigers-Kansas City Royals game at Detroit’s Comerica Park April 3:

Excited to attend the Detroit @tigers game Thursday at 1pm and throw out the 1st pitch. If you’re in MI, find a way to go! @JuryJJ @ufc

Jury, 25, lived in Flint as a child, attended Beecher Junior High and graduated from Fenton High School in 2006. He earned all-state honors in wrestling his senior year, winning a Metro League title, district championship and finishing fifth at states.

Since then, he’s entered the world of mixed martial arts, where his hybrid wrestling style — he calls it “Jury Jui Jitsu” — that blends Jui-Jitsu and Muy Thai has earned him a 14-0 record in UFC. Jury’s last fight, March 15, against veteran lightweight Diego Sanchez at UFC 171 in Dallas, resulted in a unanimous win for Jury.

Jury now lives in San Diego, Calif.

First pitch for Thursday’s Tigers baseball game is scheduled for 1:08 p.m.
